We want the agricultural sector in Guanajuato to be strong, said the Governor

“In the People’s Government we are working as a team to strengthen the farmers of Guanajuato,” said the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, while attending the Annual Report of activities of the President of Irrigation District 011 Alto Rio Lerma, Agustin Robles Montenegro.
The Governor, who was with the Mayor of Irapuato, Lorena Alfaro Garcia, recognized the leadership of Agustin Robles leading this Irrigation District, which is one of the most important in Mexico:
- Covers more than 112,000 hectares of crops in the 11 Irrigation Modules
- In the municipalities of:
- Acambaro, Salvatierra, Jaral del Progreso, Valle de Santiago, Cortazar, Salamanca, Irapuato, Abasolo, Huanimaro, Corralejo, in Penjamo, and Purisima
Libia Dennise added that teamwork has been important for this Irrigation District 011 to be a pillar of regional development, an example of productive organization and a national benchmark in water management for irrigation.
Libia said that for the People’s Government, the agriculture sector is a priority, which is why her Government will continue to promote more actions and projects for this sector, in addition to those already in place, such as financing and productive support, through schemes like “Tu PuedesGuanajuato”; and the determined push for technology, training and modernization, as well as support for hydro-agricultural infrastructure.
Besides, the Governor said, the government is protecting family finances to secure the stability in prices for corn in the region, which is why the “Grano del Bajio” strategy was announced for this year. This strategy promotes coordination between farm producers, industry, and government to strengthen the white corn production chain in Guanajuato.
After reiterating her gratitude to the producers of Irrigation District 011 for their work and their willingness to engage in dialogue, Libia said that Guanajuato must be put first, in addition to protecting water, strengthening our organizations, and continuing to build agreements through close dialogue and respect.
This session was also attended by the Secretary of Agriculture, Marisol Suarez Correa; and the Secretary of Water and Environment, Jose Lara Lona; among other authorities.
