Libia commemorates Call of Independence in Dolores

“Long live the heroines and heroes who gave us Homeland and Freedom! Long live Miguel Hidalgo! Long live Josefa Ortiz! Long live Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon!” said the Governor from the atrium of the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows

The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the ceremony of the 216th Anniversary of the Call for Independence in Dolores Hidalgo.

From the atrium of the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Governor rang the bell and launched the Call for Independence to pay homage to the beginning of the Insurgent movement.

Libia Dennise evoked Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla’s call to arms on that early morning of September 16, 1810, and said:

• “Long live the heroines and heroes who gave us Homeland and Liberty! Long live Miguel Hidalgo! Long live Josefa Ortiz! Long live Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon! Long live Leona Vicario!”
• Long live Ignacio Allende! Long live Tomasa Esteves! Long live Juan Aldama! Long live Gertrudis Armendariz!
• “Long live Vicente Guerrero! Long live Manuela Taboada! Long live Maria Josefa Marmolejo! Long live Maria Ignacia Rodriguez! Long live the Insurgent Women of Penjamo! Long live the searching mothers! Long live the women who continue building the Nation! Long live Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence! Long live Guanajuato! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico!” called the Governor.

The Governor waved the flag and rang the bell. The National Anthem was then sung; afterwards, she handed the flag to the Military Escort for safekeeping.

Finally, the fireworks and drone show began, accompanied by music of Jose Alfredo Jimenez.

The Governor was in this ceremony with the President of the Board of Directors of the State DIF System, Juan Carlos Montesinos Carranza; the Mayor of Dolores Hidalgo, Adrian Hernandez Alejandri and Legislative and Judicial Officials.
