The city is bursting with life as the Leon State Fair 450 takes center stage in a grand celebration marking 150 years of fair tradition and the 450th anniversary of Leon’s founding. Blending spectacular stages, rich flavors, endless fun, and family bonding, this historic edition gathers the emotions and memories that strengthen the identity and pride of local families.
From January 9 to February 4, the Leon State Fair stands as a cornerstone of the 450th-anniversary commemorations. Mayor Ale Gutierrez emphasized the significance of this milestone event that unites families and leaves a lasting mark on the community.
“There will be so many things, dreams, joy, and excitement, but most importantly, Leon welcomes you with open arms and much love. We all hope that with this 450th anniversary, we leave behind a better city; that is our greatest responsibility. If we are here today, it is to transcend through love, passion, and joy, so that our children and our families remember this Fair 450 with wonder, the 150th fair they will carry in their hearts forever,” said Ale Gutierrez.
The Mayor invited all families to experience this grand celebration, noting that on January 20 (Founding Day), entry will be free under the “Pasale Gratis” program.
Furthermore, 85% of all activities will be free of charge, including the Disney spectacle “Where Dreams are Born”, a show never before seen in Latin America, as well as the Illusion On Ice skating show, KUANTUM.
The 150th edition also features Solareon, a monumental 12-meter-tall lion destined to become the symbol of the festivities and the most photographed attraction of the year.
The Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, remarked that the Leon Fair represents the pinnacle of fun, tradition, and family unity.
“This is the premier family fair of our country. Today we have much to be proud of as we honor not only the 450 years of this great municipality but also proudly celebrate 150 years of tradition for this magnificent fair,” the Governor said.
Hector Rodriguez Velazquez, President of the Fair Board, welcomed attendees to an event that serves as a collective identity and a spectacle for all.
“This edition is a starting point. Leon’s 450 years are not the end, but a solid foundation to continue building a fairer, more vibrant, and prouder city. This Fair, as it does every year, is the engine of that future,” Rodriguez said.
The 2026 Leon State Fair will offer 27 days of non-stop fun and festivities, proving once again that Leon is a premier destination that fosters togetherness and joy. Following the inauguration, Municipal and State Authorities toured the various stands and pavilions, greeting exhibitors, exploring attractions, and engaging with visitors.
The tour highlighted the high quality of the fair’s offerings and its boost to local tourism. The day also saw the opening of the 2026 Livestock Expo, further cementing its reputation as the best family fair in Mexico.
