Japan celebrates its new year and Guanajuato recognizes its economic, cultural and social contributions to the State. The Asian country has trusted the State by completing:

  • 145 investment projects
  • Generating 48,140 direct jobs
  • A total investment of more than 8.9 billion dollars

These initiatives consolidate Guanajuato as a strategic point for industrial development in Mexico; as the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, has said, the economy of Guanajuato is dynamic and does not stop.

The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, said that this synergy between investment, employment and culture guarantees a promising future for Guanajuato, which continues to advance towards a development model full of prosperity, inclusion and industrial connections.

Japan remains the State’s main trading partner, with three major automakers, Toyota, Mazda and Honda operating here, as well as a significant group of companies that form part of its supply chain for auto parts, components and services.

The relationship between Guanajuato and Japan has contributed to the improvement of the work culture and technology transfer, raising quality and competitiveness standards in industrial processes.

Japanese investments have been established in municipalities like:

  • Acambaro, Abasolo, Apaseo el Alto, Apaseo el Grande, Celaya, Comonfort, Coroneo, Cortazar, Cueramaro, Doctor Mora, Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Huanimaro, Irapuato, Jerecuaro, Juventino Rosas, Leon, Ocampo, Penjamo, Purisima del Rincon, Pueblo Nuevo, Romita, Salamanca, Salvatierra, San Diego de la Union, San Felipe, San Francisco del Rincon, San Jose Iturbide, San Luis de la Paz, San Miguel de Allende, Silao, Uriangato, Valle de Santiago, Victoria, Villagran

This development has been key to diversifying employment opportunities and strengthening infrastructure in the benefited areas, achieving economic balance within and outside the industrial corridor, one of the most distinctive characteristics of Guanajuato.

The arrival of Japanese capital and of large corporations have fostered the creation of value chains with opportunities for local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises -MSMEs-, which are now part of a globalized ecosystem.

The Government of Guanajuato, through the Ministry of Economy, reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting strategies that promote foreign investment, strengthen job creation and improve the quality of life of Guanajuatense families.

The collaboration with Japan is just the beginning of a broader vision that seeks to position Guanajuato as an international benchmark in innovation, sustainability and economic development.
