The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato has a health system that stands out nationally, for aspects such as its zero rejection policy in medical emergencies and being first in transparency of expenses.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, said that there are many pillars that support the reasons why the health system of Guanajuato is and will continue to be for the people of Guanajuato.

“For six consecutive years, the State of Guanajuato, particularly in the area of health, has been number one in transparency of spending, because we receive close to 9 billion pesos from the Federation to care for Mexicans who live in the State of Guanajuato,” said the Secretary.
By making it transparent with the proper documentation that the medicines acquired with Federal money were distributed free of charge, it allows for a 98.5% efficient and responsible budget execution, and a supply and delivery of prescription medicines of more than 95%.

Cortes added that there are 35 hospitals certified as Children-Friendly, a fact that reinforces a responsibility and obligation to maintain the health system in Guanajuato.
Cortes Alcala said that, in the area of organ donation, the State is a national leader, as well as in the area of vaccination of children under 6 years of age, where health staff do not wait for people to come to be vaccinated, but go out to find that sector of the population that requires certain doses.

Cortes Alcala considered that the greatest impact comes from the practice of “Zero Rejection” policy in medical emergencies, where it doesn’t matter if you have coverage from the IMSS or the ISSSTE, the population is treated in the hospitals of the Secretary of Health and in all units, including the People’s Health Centers.

Cortes Alcala said that regarding coverage, there are medical care centers in municipalities such as Xichu and Atarjea where there are no IMSS or ISSSTE clinics, so there is a very broad coverage with more than 630 units distributed in the 46 municipalities, which allows for a presence throughout Guanajuato.
