The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, led the start of the Contest for Electromobility in Guanajuato -E-GTO-, in which high school and university students will design and create electric vehicles.
“We need you to immerse yourself in electromobility so that the future belongs to you, we are going to anticipate the future and we are going to bet on the Mindfacture. Show your talent and your ability to invent, to solve ideas; you have to go out with a winning attitude”, said the Governor.
Students from public and private institutions participate in this contest, and each team is made up of from 8 to 10 students and 1 to 3 advisory teachers.
The Government of Guanajuato through the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, launched the call for students of Upper Middle and Higher Education for the Electromobility contest that covers 3 categories.
The categories of the contest are:
The first is:
- ‘Single-Seater Vehicles’, where university students will design and create a single-seater electric vehicle in the style of racing cars
The second is:
- ‘Support Vehicle’, in which high school students will design and build a prototype of a cargo or support vehicle to perform a task, reducing the physical effort, risk or time it takes for the human operator
The third is:
- ‘Conversion of an internal combustion vehicle to electric’, where university students will receive an internal combustion vehicle in which they must work to make it 100% electric
Each institution will use its own funds or get sponsors. Today the Governor delivered checks for 20,000 pesos as seed capital to the 20 teams that participate in the first two categories, while for the third, 12 unused vehicles were delivered that the students will be able to convert into electric ones.
The competing teams will exhibit their vehicles at the Industrial Transformation Mexico -ITM-, to be held next October at the Poliforum Leon, where 1st and 2nd place will be awarded:
- The first will win 100 thousand pesos
- The second 75 thousand
- In the third category, the winning team will have the loan of the vehicle they transform
