The 52nd edition of the Festival of the Spirit begins in the City of Guanajuato

The art and culture of the world make Guanajuato their home for 16 days; the performing arts and shows brighten the hearts of Guanajuatenses and visitors with the 52nd edition of the International Cervantino Festival.
“This is the most important cultural festival in Latin America. A magical festival where, in addition to promoting culture and art, we promote inclusion and equality. Today, the International Cervantino Festival has, as never before, a woman’s face. Everyone is welcome,” said Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo at the opening of the Festival of the Spirit.
The Governor welcomed this year’s guests of honor, Oaxaca and Brazil, who will delight the public with the richness and diversity of their cultures from October 11 to 27 in Guanajuato.
“Today, the Cervantino Capital of America becomes the Cervantino Capital of the World. Today, the people of Guanajuato declare themselves, by right, more Cervantino than ever. Guanajuato is graced by the presence of our guests of honor: Brazil and Oaxaca,” said Libia Dennise Garcia.
More than 3,271 artists will participate in this edition of the FIC, of whom 2,685 are national and 586 are international, coming from 24 countries.
The Cervantino has scheduled 130 performances of performing arts, 116 shows and more, which will be presented in 18 venues. Among the most anticipated events are the presentations of Monsieur Perine and Silvana Estrada in Latin American music. Los Autenticos Decadentes and Nortec: Bostich + Fussible, representing popular genres.
Local talent will also be present, and on this occasion there will be 449 artists from Guanajuato who will present 20 stage and musical proposals that cover genres like jazz, traditional music and symphonic music; among the Guanajuatense that are performing are Guillermo Velazquez and the Leones de la Sierra de Xichu, the State Music Band and the Silvestre Revueltas Youth Symphony Orchestra.
The FIC contributes positively to the Guanajuato economy and an economic impact of more than 250 million pesos is expected, with more than 63 thousand tourists staying overnight in hotels and a hotel occupancy rate of 47 percent. It is estimated that more than 500 thousand people will visit the city during the 17 days of the Festival.
The FIC continues to be a global cultural reference, promoting artistic dialogue, access to culture and social transformation through art.
