Guanajuato ranked 5th nationally in monthly formal job creation

Guanajuato continues to consolidate itself as one of the most dynamic economies and job creation capacity in Mexico, registering 1 million 132 thousand 045 workers insured before the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) at the end of April 2026.
The People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munz Ledo, has promoted an economic policy focused on strengthening formal employment, attracting investments, developing talent and generating more opportunities for Guanajuatense families, consolidating Guanajuato as one of the States with the greatest productive strength and growth capacity in Mexico.
According to the most recent results from the IMSS, Guanajuato ranked 5th nationally in monthly job creation, registering 4,630 new jobs during April, equivalent to a growth of 0.4 percent.
Likewise, the State reported a positive annual variation of 6,249 jobs, which allowed it to position itself in 9th place in Mexico.
These results reflect the strength of the state’s economic ecosystem and Guanajuato’s ability to maintain a sustained growth path, even in the face of complex national and international economic scenarios.
The sectors that registered the greatest dynamism in job creation are:
- Services for businesses, individuals and households; commerce; transport; construction; food; leather and footwear; social services; metal products; household appliances; extractive industry; clothing; chemical; oil refining; machinery and equipment; electrical industry and non-metallic minerals
The State’s economic strategy has allowed the consolidation of a model based on balanced regional development, the strengthening of production chains, industrial diversification, and collaboration between businesses, academia, and government, creating conditions for economic growth to translate into more job opportunities.
The People’s Government reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting strategies that strengthen employment, attract investment, and foster economic development, so that more families in Guanajuato have access to better opportunities and a higher better of life.
