The National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy -CONEVAL- released the numbers of the multidimensional measurement of poverty, corresponding to the year 2022, which offers comprehensive and integral data on the situation of the social development in the country and each one of the States.
CONEVAL is an institution with technical and management autonomy with the objective to coordinate the evaluation of social development policies and programs, as well as to measure poverty, in accordance with the General Law of Social Development.
After the publication of the results of the 2022 National Household Income and Expenditure Survey carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography -INEGI-, CONEVAL processed this information, in accordance with the criteria established in the Methodology for the multidimensional measurement of poverty in Mexico, in order to make estimates of multidimensional poverty.
Over the years, Guanajuato has maintained in each measurement a significant reduction in terms of social deprivations, as a result of the actions undertaken by the different Secretaries of the State Government, and which are focused on reducing the social gap and to combat poverty. These actions are currently implemented through the Guanajuato With You Yes Strategy.
“Guanajuato decreased its poverty by 9.7 percentage points and its extreme poverty by 1.3 percentage points, and we are already below four percent in extreme poverty, which is very positive and good news for Guanajuato,” said Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo. The main advances reflected in the CONEVAL publication are multidimensional poverty, income and social deprivations.
