Guanajuato reaffirms its national tourism leadership by receiving several nominations in the “Best of Mexico 2026” awards, organized by Mexico Desconocido magazine, one of the most important platforms for the promotion of cultural tourism in the Country.
These nominations place the State at the center of the national tourism conversation, highlighting the diversity of its experiences, its cultural richness and its ability to innovate under the vision of “Guanajuato opens new paths”, promoted by the Government of the People.
Guanajuato’s nominations for “The Best of Mexico 2026” are:
- Best Tourist Route: Independence Route
- Best Luxury and Wellness Experience: Hot Springs in San Miguel de Allende
- Best Contemporary Cultural Festival: Cervantino International Festival
- Best Magical Town for a gastronomic experience: Dolores Hidalgo CIN
- Best once-in-a-lifetime experience: Callejoneadas in Guanajuato City
These distinctions reflect a solid, competitive tourism portfolio aligned with current traveler trends, and the results will be announced at the 50th edition of the Tianguis Turístico.
The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, noted that these results are a direct reflection of a comprehensive strategy promoted by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, focused on projecting Guanajuato with identity and a global vision.
“These nominations are the result of a clear strategy: to position Guanajuato with a strong identity in the world, to open new paths and generate real opportunities for our people,” said the head of SECTURI.
“Every decision we make in tourism is designed to generate more economic benefits for our communities, for our cooks, artisans, guides, hotel owners, and all the people who live off tourism,” said the Secretary.
“Today Guanajuato is in the national conversation because there is a solid tourism promotion strategy; we are projecting the best of ourselves and consolidating ourselves as a competitive and reliable destination,” said the head of SECTURI.
The “Best of Mexico” awards are organized by Mexico Desconocido and the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, and recognize the most outstanding destinations through a process that integrates editorial evaluation, expert participation and public voting.
From the Independence Route to the International Cervantino Festival, including gastronomic tourism and experiences in heritage cities, Guanajuato demonstrates its ability to offer high-value tourism products.
