Guanajuato ranked first at the national level as the State that complied 100% with its transparency obligations.
The data is presented in the results obtained in the National Transparency Platform 2021 by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness -IMCO-.
The report indicates that despite the fact that state institutions have the obligation to comply with those obligations, only 52 percent do so.
The best evaluated States are:
- 100% Guanajuato
- 90% Hidalgo
- 88% Puebla
- 77% Chihuahua
- 77% Veracruz
In this report, IMCO points out that “the National Transparency Platform (PNT) is the system that concentrates government information from institutions that spend public money, this includes contracts for works, goods and services in accordance with the General Law of Transparency and Access to Public Information”.
The Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) analyzed 251 thousand 148 purchase processes for an amount of 346 thousand million pesos carried out during 2021 by the State institutions of the 32 States of Mexico available on the Platform.
Despite being an obligation of transparency, the institutions fail to publish information on the purchasing processes: the number of institutions that report information on the platform is less than the number of obligated subjects, reveals the report.
During 2021, only 52 percent of State institutions registered information on public purchases in the National Transparency Platform.
The rest, 2,423 institutions, did not publish information on their purchasing processes during that year.
“As an example, while all the regulated institutions in Guanajuato registered public purchases on the platform, in the State of Mexico only 4% did so,” reveals the IMCO report.
Governor of Guanajuato Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, insisted in his commitment to continue with this policy of transparency and accountability, in addition to zero tolerance for acts of corruption in his administration.
“With this strategy, Guanajuato continues to be trustful to national and international investors to develop their projects in Guanajuato for the benefit of all Guanajuatenses”, he said the Governor.
