To promote the certainty and legal security of families and shield the patrimony after death, the Campaign for the Month of the Testament started in Guanajuato.
Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, signed as a Witness of Honor the Collaboration Agreement for the provision of notarial services during the ‘September Month of the Testament’ campaign for the year 2023.
“Through the elaboration of the will, the harmony and security of the family is guaranteed, as this is how possible conflicts that could violate the family union are avoided”, said the Governor.
“Also, the will is the appropriate means by which parents or those who exercise parental authority over their minor children can designate a guardian,” said the Governor.
Among the additional benefits this year, he added, during September and October, the costs will be the same as in 2022:
- 2,320 pesos for the general public
- 1,160 pesos, including taxes for adults over 65
The month of testament:
- In September and October, more than 50% of wills received throughout the year are registered
- In 2022, 11,122 wills were registered
- In 2021 there were 11,883 wills
- For 2023 it is expected to exceed the registration of 12 thousand wills
“Today we reaffirm our commitment to continue promoting the legality, governability and social peace of our State, values that make Guanajuato the greatness of Mexico,” said the Governor.
This Agreement was signed by the Secretary of the Government of Guanajuato, J. Jesus Oviedo Herrera and the President of the College of Notaries of the State of Guanajuato, Oscar Arroyo Delgado.
In the elaboration of a will, said Oviedo, the testator and the notary participate; the requirements for its realization are an official identification of the testator and two witnesses with official identification.
The President of the College of Notaries of the State of Guanajuato, Oscar Arroyo Delgado, said that the age to make a will does not matter, nor the assets that one owns, because it is a way of giving legality and peace of mind with what one has.
