Casa Cuanax won the Grand Gold Medal at the prestigious Mexico Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) event, held in San Luis Potosí.
The award highlights the quality of the salmiana-type mezcal produced in the Magical Town of Mineral de Pozos, San Luis de la Paz, positioning it as a reference on the national and international scene, highlighting the astringent but captivating notes of this agave variety.
“It is a unique example of the cultural and gastronomic treasures of the State of Guanajuato. This maguey, wild salmiana, stands out for its citrus, herbal notes and a characteristic mild spiciness that evokes the very essence of agave,” said the master mezcalero Antonio Castellanos, who in an artisanal way reflects the care and tradition of this Marca GTO spirit.
For the master mezcalero, this award represents more than just a prize, “it is a recognition of the effort and dedication invested in creating an authentic product. Having won the first Grand Gold Medal for a mezcal made from maguey salmiana in Guanajuato is a huge satisfaction. It is the result of years of artisanal work, always focused on quality and showing the best of our land,” he said with emotion.
