Surrounded by historical monuments, architectural beauty and a multicolored scenery that Guanajuato capital offers, professionals from the adventure tourism industry of Mexico and the world began the activities of the tenth edition of the Fair the most important Adventure and Nature Tourism in Mexico –ATMEX-.
For the first time, ATMEX arrives in the State of Guanajuato to show the world that Mexico is more than a sun and beach destination; it is the perfect combination of nature, culture and infinite possibilities of adventure activities that, this year, you will discover in the Guanajuato destinations.
Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, opened this event -with Argentina as the guest country- in the general auditorium of the University of Guanajuato, in the presence of Antonio Del Rosal Stanford, General Director of Genuine Experiences, consulting company specializing in adventure tourism.
“This edition of ATMEX will be the best ever. Guanajuato has been doing promotion of the nature spaces that we have in the State to attract these quality events. Guanajuato is a destination that has 46% of the biodiversity that Mexico has and that gives us the opportunity to celebrate it with all of you”, said the Secretary of Tourism during the inauguration.
This edition brings together adventure and nature tourism tour operators from of Guanajuato, national and international tour operators, specialists in the adventure and nature segment; and specialized buyers from Mexico, the United States, Canada, Spain and Argentina.
“We will share with all of you the tourist offer that is made up of 60 adventure, ecotourism and rural tourism experiences developed by 30 tour operators in 15 Guanajuato destinations; In addition, we will give you a taste of our gastronomy, and you will get to know our culture, because Tourism is an integrator of experiences”

Antonio Del Rosal said that “for 10 years, ATMEX has fostered, promoted and professionalized the Adventure and Nature industry, and what better setting than this Auditorium of this University in Guanajuato capital, which are the essence of our country and, in turn, At the same time, they are an essential part of what we seek to value as an industry, our cultural and historical legacy”.
“The traveler has changed, today we care more about the impact we generate, social and environmental responsibility are part of who we are. Today, Guanajuato has shown its commitment to the tourism industry and is turning it into a core axis of the State economy”, said the director.
Guanajuato offered a dinner by Trattoria, a restaurant that collaborated with Roberto Hernandez, 1st. Place of Foodathon 2021, who gave the winning dessert “Place of Eternal Corn: The Endless Story” a try.
With this event Guanajuato takes advantage of the opportunity to remain in the focus of the tourism industry in Latin America and North America, as well as in some European markets to publicize the specialized offer of the local tour operator, which otherwise they would hardly have access to international markets.
