PMA Footwear Manufacturer demonstrates that tradition, innovation and a global vision generate a legacy in exports
PMA, a family-owned fashion company crosses borders with the support of COFOCE and the People’s Government

In the heart of Purisima del Rincon, in 1963, a family workshop was born dedicated to the manufacture of children’s footwear, then sneakers, and in 1990 it specialized in what it is today, a manufacturer of industrial safety footwear made of one hundred percent leather.
More than six decades later, PMA Footwear Manufacturer not only keeps the tradition and family legacy alive, but also generates more than 180 direct jobs, improving the quality of life of those families.
What began as a family business now operates with three production plants and specialized technology, exporting its products to the United States and Central America, demonstrating that local talent can grow without abandoning its roots.
The partnership with COFOCE began in 2018, marking a turning point in the company’s history. Since then, the company has strengthened its international competitiveness through consulting services, meetings with foreign buyers, training in foreign trade, logistics, and digital commerce, as well as participation in trade missions and business agendas in Central America, particularly in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
Thanks to this support, PMA achieved its first export in 2018 to Costa Rica, with a distributor that has points of sale, and is currently maintaining active negotiations to expand its presence in new markets in the region.
“We are currently shipping products to the United States, Guatemala, and El Salvador. COFOCE has invited us to many trade shows; we just returned from Dallas where we were invited to WESA. These are events where they don’t leave you alone, they guide you step by step, they put you where the customers are. There are so many opportunities; you just have to reach out to COFOCE,” said Nestor Dominguez Barajas.
The Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, has reiterated that the People’s Government believes in companies that are born from local effort and that take the name of the State to the world, promoting public policies that strengthen competitiveness, international diversification and growth with social impact.
