Teachers are being trained in chip design and assembly to promote technological innovation in Guanajuato

Leon/Gto News

With the goal of promoting the development of specialized talent in new technologies, the People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, is fostering collaboration by education institutions and research centers to expand learning opportunities and contribute to the technological development of Guanajuato.

As part of these efforts, the first results of the B-CHIPS program were presented, an initiative that brings together the Secretary of Education off Guanajuato (SEG), the Center for Engineering and Industrial Development (CIDESI) and higher education institutions.

During the meeting, a symbolic presentation of a multi-project silicon wafer, containing close to 200 chips, was made, in addition to a practical workshop to learn about the assembly and testing processes of these electronic components.

Aldelmo Emmanuel Israel Reyes Pablo, Undersecretary of Higher and Upper Secondary Education of the SEG, highlighted the importance of collaboration by education institutions, research centers and the Federal States of Guanajuato, Queretaro and Aguascalientes.

He also emphasized the importance of bringing students closer to research spaces such as the Center for Optical Research (CIO) and CIDESI, so that they can learn about the professional opportunities that exist in Guanajuato and discover new scientific and technological vocations.

Miguel Angel Lopez Duran, a professor at the Instituto Tecnologico Superior del Sur de Guanajuato (ITSUR), shared that this training has allowed teachers to learn about the design of integrated circuits and sensors, as well as the processes necessary to verify their functionality. “It has been a very rewarding experience,” said Lopez.

In addition to designing their own chips, participants are learning about electronic instrumentation and assembling circuits on boards for testing.

The training is part of a strategy to strengthen the skills of teachers from different states and generate knowledge that can be passed on to new generations, bringing them closer to a sector that is fundamental for innovation and competitiveness.
