Due to its geographic location, human talent, infrastructure and industrial and business strength, Guanajuato has become a solid region for the logistics and mobility sector, so today this industry already represents 7.4% of the State’s gross domestic product.
One of the initiatives promoted by the People’s Government, through the Secretary of Economy, is the diversification of its productive sources, in order to capitalize on investment opportunities and job creation for families in all the State.
This sector employs 51,094 people in Guanajuato and comprises 873 businesses participating in the production chain, including passenger transport, freight, and warehousing companies.
These economic units operate primarily in 11 municipalities, among them:
- Leon, Celaya, Silao, Irapuato, Salamanca, Apaseo el Grande, and Villagran
Since Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo took office, companies in this industry have invested $714.62 million and have positioned the logistics and mobility sector in sixth place in value generation in Guanajuato.
In 2024, for example, Walmart began the construction of its Distribution Center (DC) in Silao, where they invest $550 million and which today operates with 1,044 workers.
At the beginning of 2026, the Pacific Airport Group (GAP) announced the investment of $164.64 million for the expansion and modernization of the Bajio International Airport.
These type of projects, noted the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, consolidate the State as a key hub in logistics and mobility, which in turn reflects the confidence that companies have in Guanajuato for the investment of their capital.
