A century after the start of Guanajuato’s organized footwear industry, SAPICA has officially introduced its 95th edition: SAPICA FUTURA 100+. The celebration honors the sector’s legacy while projecting its future through a strong focus on innovation, business growth, and design.

Latin America’s premier footwear and leather goods trade show will take place from August 11 to 13 at the Poliforum Leon.

In a press conference, Juan Carlos Cashat Usabiaga, President of both the Footwear Industry Chamber of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG) and the National Footwear Industry Chamber (CANAICAL), highlighted that the Guanajuato Fashion Cluster is the State’s third most important economic sector in terms of GDP contribution. The cluster encompasses over 19,500 business entities, with more than 6,000 dedicated to footwear and leather manufacturing, generating over 150,000 direct jobs.

Cashat emphasized that SAPICA has established itself as the leading B2B platform for the footwear and leather goods industry in Latin America. In its previous edition, the trade show convened over 28,000 visitors, 2,200 unique buyers, 380 exhibitors, and more than 2,000 brands across 17 countries, driving over 14,000 business matchmaking meetings in just three days.

For this upcoming edition, SAPICA once again expects 380 exhibiting companies, 2,200 unique buyers, and a substantial economic impact for the city of Leon, reinforcing its standing as a major MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination in Mexico.

“This year, we are embarking on a historic milestone. SAPICA 95 Futura 100+ celebrates a century of organized industry in Guanajuato and charts the course for a sector driven by innovation, design, technology, and internationalization, without losing sight of the talent and people behind it,” said Cashat.

Juan Pablo Becerra Alcacio, Director General of Economy of the local Government of Leon, representing Mayor of the Municipality, noted that this 95th edition carries special significance as it coincides with the Chamber’s centennial and the 450th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Leon.

Fabricio Ibarra Rocha, Deputy Secretary for MSME Development, representing the Governor of the State of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, pointed out that for over five decades, SAPICA has served as the flagship commercial showcase for the Mexican footwear and leather sector, consolidating nearly 90% of the national industry’s offering.

Juan Manuel Martinez Micher, Vice President of SAPICA, said that SAPICA FUTURA 100+ embodies a strategic vision that respects the historical legacy of those who built the industry while projecting a future anchored in technology, design, and business development.

Martinez highlighted the enhancement of the Loyalty Program, designed to attract key domestic and international buyers through exclusive perks, as well as the evolution of SAPICA Learning. This educational hub will bring together national and international experts to share insights on industry trends, strategic tools, and corporate growth.

This edition will feature panels and talks by key industry leaders covering topics such as artificial intelligence, retail, branding, creative design, trends, and luxury markets. Attendees will also experience the BJX Moda Fashion Film Showcase and the launch of Soy Thea, a new initiative led by Mexican personality Wendy Guevara.

As part of the dual celebration, 100 years of the footwear sector and 450 years of Leon, SAPICA 95 will host its signature runway show in the Central Patio of the Leon Municipal Palace.

A new creative collaboration was also announced with the lifestyle brand Mexico Is The Shit and designer Anuar Layon. Together, they developed the official edition T-shirt inspired by the FUTURA 100+ manifestó, a call to action to shape the future of the industry through creativity, talent, and innovation.

Lucia Alejandra Herrera Lozano, Director General of CICEG and CANAICAL, presented the institutional awards for “Best Sales Agent” and “Best Retailer,” which honor key players who drive the growth, market positioning, and competitiveness of Mexican footwear at the point of sale.

“It is thanks to our ecosystem partners—retailers and sales agents, that our regional identity reaches store displays and, ultimately, the consumer. There are approximately 45,000 economic units in Mexico dedicated to footwear distribution, and SAPICA is their primary sourcing hub,” said Herrera.

With SAPICA FUTURA 100+, the leather and footwear industry celebrates a century of organized history while reaffirming its commitment to innovation, global competitiveness, and design, solidifying Leon as Latin America’s central hub for fashion business.
