The Juventudes Institute is creating a library open to the public to bring young people closer to reading, culture and safe learning spaces

As part of the People’s Government’s commitment to create more opportunities for the growth of young people in Guanajuato, the Juventudes Institute launched “Guanajuato Reads,” an improvement project that seeks to promote the habit of reading, boost the personal and academic development of young guanajuatenses, and open the doors of the Institute so that they have a safe, free and easy to get space to study, read, meet and develop new ideas.
This project originated as one of the improvement actions implemented by the Juventudes Institute as part of ISO 9001 certification, an international standard that establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System.
Through “Guanajuato Reads”, the Institute’s facilities are transformed into a meeting point for young people, where reading becomes a tool to expand knowledge, stimulate critical thinking, strengthen skills and open new opportunities for personal and professional growth.
“At the Institute, we have a space for you. We want you to come and study, do your homework, meet up, and make this place your own. The most important thing is that you participate, that you tell us what else you need, and that together we continue building spaces for young people. Reading has profoundly enriched my life, and today we want to share that opportunity with everyone,” said Regis Trujillo, the Voice of Juventudes and general director of the Juventudes Institute.
The library houses books donated by young people, staff members of the Institute, and members of the public committed to promote reading. It currently contains books from various genres, including novels, philosophy, politics, poetry, fantasy, science fiction, and self-help.
The library is located at Calle Fray Martin de Valencia No. 102, Santo Domingo in Leon, Guanajuato, where young people can come to enjoy this space for reading and socializing.
As part of the launch of “Guanajuato Reads”, from August 3 to 7 the Institute will carry out a book donation campaign, through which the participants will exchange their donations at the facilities for incentives such as thermos, rechargeable batteries or USB drives, according to the number of books delivered.
