The highways in Guanajuato will receive year-round maintenance in all 46 municipalities through four regional coordination offices, ensuring that the benefits reach the entire State, said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo during the broadcast of the program “Connecting with the People.”

“A few days ago we presented this program, which we will now discuss, because in ‘Guanajuato We Are on the Right Track’. For us, investing in a road in good condition is not only investing in infrastructure, it is also ensuring that it is a safe trip for families and that we can arrive home safely,” said the Governor.

This road maintenance program includes pothole repair, leveling, crack sealing, cleaning and dredging of drainage works, ditch maintenance, weeding, horizontal and vertical signage, among other actions.
With these actions, Guanajuato has one of the most important state highway networks in the country, made up of more than 2,640 kilometers of toll-free highways, which connect cities, rural communities, industrial zones, logistics corridors and tourist destinations.

“These are roads that connect us to progress. If there’s one thing that characterizes Guanajuato, it’s that we have very good highways. When you leave the State, you realize that not everywhere do the roads have that level of maintenance,” said the State Governor.
This road conservation program is a comprehensive strategy to maintain the state toll-free road network in optimal condition through routine and preventive maintenance, rehabilitation, and additional work, in order to offer greater road safety, strengthen connectivity, and facilitate mobility.

“Maintenance is carried out preventively to avoid the deterioration of the roads, preventing higher costs in the future,” said Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, Secretary of Public Works, a guest on Connecting with the People.
In addition to road maintenance, the head of Public Works said that this program generates employment and activates 60 to 70 branches of the economy directly or indirectly.

Luis Anaya Martinez, Director General of State Highways, highlighted that more than 80 percent of the State road network was reported to be in very good or acceptable condition during 2025, according to the international roughness index (road surface conditions). “What makes Guanajuato different is consistency; we carry out maintenance work throughout the year, and that makes it posible for us to keep the highways in good condition,” he said.

Sarai Becerra Barron, Construction Supervisor, said that an important part of road maintenance is the review in situ to verify the conditions in which the work is carried out and to verify together with the contractors that the necessary quality is met.
“Let’s make it clear, in Guanajuato we have the best roads in Mexico,” concluded Governor Libia Dennise.
