As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local identity and appreciation for the region’s cultural heritage, 60 senior citizens from Purisima del Rincon took part in a guided tour through Jalpa de Canovas, a recognized Pueblo Magico (Magic Town) and UN Tourism Best Tourism Village.

The group was joined by Enriqueta Martinez Lopez, President of the Municipal DIF System, along with representatives from the Local Tourism Board and municipal historian Luis Cabrera.

The visitors explored several of the destination’s premier attractions, starting at the Luis Cabrera Museum, where the historian shared the fascinating heritage, legacy, and cultural importance of Jalpa de Canovas.
The itinerary continued at Toyi, a beloved traditional natural area in the region, followed by visits to the Temple of Senor de la Misericordia, the Jalpa Dam, and other iconic landmarks that showcase the historical, architectural, and natural charm of this Magic Town.

During the tour, participants browsed local artisan stalls and shops, sampling and purchasing handcrafted quince products, including the famous and traditional ate de membrillo (quince paste). The visit aligned perfectly with quince season, a fruit deeply linked to the culinary identity of Jalpa de Canovas.

Enriqueta Martinez Lopez with a group of volunteers assisted the group throughout the day, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to deliver experiences that foster community bonding, well-being, and local pride. Tourism Board staff were also on hand to provide insights and enrich the overall journey for every attendee.
This event marks the first in an upcoming series of tours designed to showcase various attractions along the Purisima del Rincon tourism corridor.

These joint initiatives of the Tourism Board and the Municipal DIF System aim to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism. By connecting residents directly with their town’s natural, cultural, architectural, and culinary treasures, the initiative empowers the community of Purisima to discover, appreciate, and become active ambassadors for their own local destinations.
