The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato registers high immunization coverage in all 46 municipalities with up to 100% of vaccination
Guanajuato/Gto News
Guanajuato is consolidating its position as a national leader in universal vaccination thanks to a permanent strategy that combines high coverage, availability of biological products, epidemiological surveillance, and territorial actions to protect the health of the population.

The results achieved place the State among the entities with the best performance in immunization and strengthen its capacity to respond to vaccine-preventable diseases, reported the Secretary of Health, Gabriel Cortes Alcala.
The State strategy strengthens the protection of the population with high coverage in the 46 municipalities.

Cortes explained that, as part of the extraordinary strategy against measles, more than 640,000 doses of MR and MMR vaccines have been administered during 2026, while the State maintains a strategic supply of more than 270,000 doses available, with 178,476 MMR vaccines and 91,600 MR vaccines, guaranteeing the timely protection of the population and the capacity to respond to any epidemiological eventuality.
The strategy is being implemented in all 46 municipalities through house-to-house brigades, vaccination in rural communities, care for migrant populations and agricultural workers, installation of macro-modules, as well as surveillance and vaccination actions at airports and bus terminals.

Strategic groups such as health personnel, teachers, and daycare workers are also being protected, strengthening the health cordon throughout the State.
The results support this public policy. In the first half of 2026, Guanajuato registered coverage rates of up to 99% for essential childhood vaccines. Furthermore, the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign reached 91% coverage in ISAPEG, one of the highest institutional coverage rates in Mexico.
Cortes Alcala said that, during 2025, the State health system administered more than 1.68 million doses of vaccines under the Universal Vaccination Program. That same year, it achieved 100% coverage for the DPT vaccine for four-year-old children and 93% coverage for the Tdap vaccine for pregnant women, strengthening protection for priority groups.

As part of the strategy implemented during the Social World Cup 2026, Guanajuato administered 116,538 vaccines to the national and foreign population, reinforcing preventive actions and epidemiological surveillance in high-mobility areas.
Guanajuato’s vaccination strategy integrates prevention, coverage, logistics, permanent availability of biologicals, and epidemiological surveillance, consolidating one of the strongest immunization programs in Mexico and reaffirming the commitment of the People’s Government to protect the health of Guanajuatense families.
