Representing Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, participated in the official launch of the 95th edition of the Leather and Footwear Show (SAPICA), one of the most important business meetings in Latin America for the leather and footwear industry and a showcase that projects Guanajuato’s talent to national and international markets.

The Secretary noted that SAPICA represents the space where an industry with 100 years of history reaffirms its capacity to innovate, compete and open new markets, consolidating Guanajuato as the heart of the footwear industry in Mexico.

Villasenor noted that the SAPICA FUTURA 100+ edition marks a historic moment for the sector by simultaneously celebrating the 95th edition of the event and the centenary of an industry that has evolved thanks to innovation, design, sustainability and the incorporation of technology, without losing the quality and identity that distinguish footwear made in Guanajuato.
From August 11 to 13, at Poliforum Leon, SAPICA will bring together more than 380 exhibiting companies, more than 2,000 brands, some 2,200 specialized buyers from 17 countries and will facilitate more than 14,000 business meetings, figures that reflect the trust that the industry inspires and the strength of Guanajuato as a strategic destination for business.

Villasenor Aguilar noted that the ongoing coordination of the People’s Government and the Guanajuato State Chamber of the Footwear Industry has allowed them to build a joint agenda to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness, promote formality, protect intellectual property, and defend the value of Mexican brands facing the challenges of international trade.

In this edition of SAPICA, the State Government will support the participation of 86 Guanajuatense economic units, strengthen the Business Platform, support SAPICA Learning and promote the SAPICA FUTURA 100+ Loyalty Program, with the purpose of enabling more companies to sell, reach new markets and strengthen their growth.
Currently, the leather and footwear sector represents 6,225 economic units, generates more than 108,000 jobs and, together with the Fashion Cluster, contributes 7.5% of the State’s Gross Domestic Product, consolidating itself as one of the most relevant economic activities for Guanajuato.
