Guanajuato ranks 5th nationally for monthly growth of formal employment registered with the IMSS and has more than 1 million 131 thousand insured workers
The Secretary of Economy is promoting job placement and training strategies to bring more formal employment opportunities

Guanajuato ranked fifth nationally in the employment ranking of workers insured by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) by monthly variation, as of the end of June 2026.
Thanks to the policies implemented by Governor Libia Denisse Garcia Munoz Ledo, Guanajuato registered 1’131,141 insured workers, as well as a positive year-on-year change of 6,946 jobs. These figures place the State 9th nationally, based on the 12-month period.
These numbers reflect the opening of new jobs in productive sectors such as:
- Services for companies, individuals and households, commerce, transport, social services, construction, metal products, leather and footwear, food, chemicals, non-metallic minerals, extractive industry, machinery and equipment, wood, oil refining, the electrical industry and paper
The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, considered that this scenario reflects the strength of Guanajuato as a competitive, reliable region prepared to support companies that choose to produce and innovate here.
The municipalities that registered positive increases are:
- Silao, Dolores Hidalgo, Celaya, Apaseo el Grande and Salamanca
In parallel, the Secretary of Economy maintains a permanent strategy to bring more formal employment opportunities to the people of Guanajuato through job placement programs such as Conexion Laboral, the University Days and the Coneecta platform, in addition to training actions that respond to the needs of the productive sector and facilitate the incorporation of more people into the labor market.
The People’s Government reaffirms its commitment to continue strengthening formal employment, promoting investment, and consolidating an environment that fosters economic growth in Guanajuato, so that development translates into more opportunities, better incomes, and a higher quality of life for Guanajuatense families.
