Purisima is searching for ‘Artisans with Identity’

The Direction of Tourism of Purisima del Rincon launched a permanent call to showcase local master crafters and cultural creators to boost local culture and tourism

In a strategic move to strengthen cultural roots and spark economic growth, the Direction of Tourism of Purisima del Rincon has launched a permanent open call titled “Artesan@ Purisimense con Identidad” (Purisimense Artisan with Identity).

The initiative aims to spotlight local creators, transform raw talent into thriving enterprises, and build a unique cultural catalog that reflects the true essence of the municipality.

The program focuses heavily on the development of authentic, handcrafted products that capture the traditions and heritage of the region, enriching the experience for global travelers while strengthening community pride.

Roberto Camargo, Director of Tourism of Purisima del Rincon, emphasized that this initiative celebrates the artistic wealth of the community, fostering entrepreneurship and engaging citizens in the region’s cultural development.

“We want to ignite new businesses, boost the local economy, and open doors for individuals who possess a unique talent, craft, or traditional knowledge but have not yet turned it into a productive project,” Camargo said.

The official noted that this strategy aligns with directives of Mayor Roberto Garcia Urbano to leverage tourism as a powerful tool for social and economic mobility.

The call invites a wide array of creators, cultural producers, and master artisans specializing in traditional crafts.

The program specifically highlights disciplines such as:

• Leather and Saddlery: Traditional leatherwork and master saddlery
• Textiles and Embroidery: Hand-woven goods and intricate local embroidery
• Wood, Clay, and Ceramics: Hand-carved wooden pieces and traditional pottery
• Jewelry and Accessories: Handmade artisanal jewelry, custom hats, and fashion accents
• Sustainable Arts: Eco-friendly crafts made from recycled materials, alongside custom souvenirs like keychains, mugs, and photo frames that capture local landmarks

Selected artists and makers will gain significant advantages designed to elevate their brands and commercial reach:

• Cultural Integration: Direct inclusion in the tourism and cultural corridors of Purisima del Rincon
• Event Access: Exclusive invitations to participate in major tourism, cultural, and gastronomic festivals throughout the year
• Professional Development: Free specialized workshops covering product commercialization, visitor relations, brand development, and local heritage identity
• Networking and Promotion: Official marketing support and valuable networking opportunities with other creators, suppliers, and tourism operators to foster collaboration

The Tourism Directorate will provide completely free consulting, guidance, and support services to develop these artisanal projects.

The call is permanently open to anyone aged 12 and older (minors require parental or guardian accompaniment). The committee is looking for dedicated, self-driven creators ready to collaborate actively in the municipality’s cultural scene.
