The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reports that so far in 2026, 14 cases of Covid 19 have been confirmed in the State, reflecting a favorable trend compared to the same period in 2025, when 106 cases were registered.

he Secretary of Health, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, said that this epidemiological behavior represents an 85 percent reduction in the number of confirmed cases, which is the result of the strengthening of epidemiological surveillance, prevention and health promotion actions that are maintained permanently throughout the State.

These data show that Guanajuato continues to have a low circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus compared to previous years, thanks to the responsible participation of the population and the coordinated work of the institutions that make up the Health sector.

In terms of mortality, during the first five months of 2026, 3 deaths associated with Covid 19 were recorded, while in the same period of 2025, 20 deaths were reported, representing a decrease of 81 percent.

The reduction in both cases and deaths is a positive indicator of the impact of vaccination strategies, timely care for patients with risk factors, and the strengthening of the response capacity of health services.

However, the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reiterates that Covid 19 is still present and that it is important to maintain preventive actions, especially among older adults, pregnant women, and patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, or respiratory conditions.

Recommendations include seeking medical evaluation for respiratory symptoms, completing the corresponding vaccination schedules, reinforcing frequent hand washing, and ensuring adequate ventilation in enclosed spaces when respiratory illness is present.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reiterates that it maintains active epidemiological surveillance in the municipalities that make up the State’s eight health jurisdictions, and reaffirms the commitment of the People’s Government to protect the health of Guanajuatense families.
