Promotions, discounts, packages, deals and, above all, experiences, is the offer that La Gran Escapada, the Good Weekend of Tourism in Mexico will have this 2026

Through a hybrid and simultaneous national press conference in which all 32 States of Mexico participated, the presentation of the second edition of La Gran Escapada, El Buen Fin del Turismo (The Great Getaway, The Good Weekend of Tourism) was announced; a national initiative that will be held from June 18 to 21, to provide travelers with:
- Promotions, discounts and tourist experiences to explore Mexico at affordable prices and with exclusive offers.
The People’s Government of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), joined the presentation of the Good Tourism Weekend 2026, with the promotion of the destinations of Guanajuato.
The evento reaffirms the potential of:
- Our two World Heritage Cities, Guanajuato City and San Miguel de Allende
- Our six Magical Towns, Dolores Hidalgo, Mineral de Pozos, Comonfort, Jalpa de Canovas, Salvatierra and Yuriria
- Our Seven Charms of Guanajuato, Tierra Blanca, Atarjea, Nuevo Valle de Moreno, Nuevo Chupicuaro, Canada de Caracheo, Puruagua and San Miguel de Ixtla
“This initiative helps us expand the reach of our destination through the tour operators joining La Gran Escapada; we are aligned with the Federal Government’s strategy to attract more tourism to our communities, because the people are the main beneficiaries of all this tourism activity. And that is the same mission we have followed through the vision of our Governor,” said the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon.
From the Federation, the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, explained that this strategy, in its second edition, estimates an economic impact of more than 44 billion pesos; strengthening national tourism, boosting local consumption and generating Shared Prosperity in the country’s tourist communities.
The President of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism in Leon (CANACO) Servitur Leon, Juan Carlos Moreno Rodriguez, reiterated that this initiative, coordinated by the private and public sectors, seeks to ensure that tourism promotion has a direct impact on the economy; so that traveling is easier than ever.
Through discounts, experiences, packages, guides and routes, national tourism seeks to activate the local economy while also considering the international projection that is coming due to the next World Cup, which Mexico will host, with Guanajuato serving as the “halftime” of this Grand Tourism event.
