As part of the Tourism with Vision strategy of the People’s Government, led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato (SECTURI) maintained an active agenda to promote the State based on its identity, its communities, its tourist attractions, and the sector’s value chain.

“We will continue working to bring tourism to more communities, generate more opportunities, and continue showing the world who we are,” said the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon.

In April tourism in Guanajuato is built with the participation of communities, business owners, traditional cooks, artisans, guides, hoteliers, tour operators, municipalities and service providers.

Strategic actions led by Governor Libia Dennise were also supported, including the promotion of the State, working with municipalities, strengthening the six Magical Towns of Guanajuato, and participating in projects that open new paths for state tourism.

As part of this agenda, actions were taken to strengthen destinations, the “Encantos de Guanajuato” (Guanajuato’s Charms) program, and communities with tourism potential. The work tour also concluded with visits to the State’s six Pueblos Magicos (Magic Towns): Dolores Hidalgo CIN, Mineral de Pozos, Comonfort, Salvatierra, Jalpa de Canovas, and Yuriria; to support their continued participation in the federal program and improve their tourism development.

In terms of connectivity, Guanajuato announced the Guanajuato–Vancouver flight, operated by Flair Airlines, which will begin on October 3, 2026.

Currently, Canada represents Guanajuato’s sixth largest international market, with 108,000 visitors and over 260 million pesos in economic impact. The Guanajuato-Puebla flight, operated by Volaris, was also announced, with four weekly flights starting in June; in addition, progress continues on the direct Bajio-Madrid flight project with Air Europa.

SECTURI also worked with the State Institute for Training (IECA) to strengthen the professional development of entrepreneurs, service providers, and communities, as part of its efforts to boost the tourism value chain. Additionally, SECTURI attended the inauguration of Hall C5 at Poliforum Leon, which strengthens Distrito Leon MX as a strategic venue for congresses, conventions, and large-scale events.

At the national level, Secretary Robles Leon was appointed regional vice president for the Central Zone of ASETUR, where she will coordinate efforts with other States to promote regional tourism, local communities, and the sector’s value chain.

In the Tianguis Turistico de México in Acapulco, Guanajuato had a delegation of 110 attendees representing 13 destinations, including Guanajuato City, San Miguel de Allende, Leon, Dolores Hidalgo, Salvatierra, Yuriria, and San Francisco del Rincon.

During the Tianguis Turitico (Tourism Fair), Guanajuato registered over 600 business appointments, more than 20 announcements, new tourist routes, a gastronomic season, wine harvests, community-based tourism, social tourism, and products ready for market. In addition, it presented seven new tourist routes that integrate communities as part of the State’s Community Tourism strategy.

Guanajuato’s participation was also recognized with three awards:

  • Best International Cultural Event for the Cervantino International Festival
  • Award for Innovation in Tourism Products for Hotel Tierra Madre
  • Best New Tourist Route for the Agustina Route of Yuriria
