The Allies for Education program will offer funding for university students in Guanajuato

Guanajuato/Gto News

With the participation of 16 public and private universities, Guanajuato launched the “Allies for Education” program, a strategy promoted by the People’s Government, through the Juventudes Institute, to strengthen access and retention of higher education students.

This model increases the scope of education support through greater coordination with participating institutions, offering a clearer and more accessible framework for young beneficiaries.

The goal is to offer financial support to young people who need it to continue their studies, with more defined rules and a broader network of allies.

This scheme will allow the universities to issue the calls for applications, according to their capacities and number of students, which will cause the scope of the program to vary in each institution.

Among the universities that have already joined the program are:

  • Tecmilenio, Universidad Humani Mundial, Conservatorio de Musica y Artes de Celaya, Universidad Continente Americano, Universidad de Celaya, Instituto de Irapuato, Instituto Universitario del Bajio, Universidad Quetzalcoatl, Universidad del Valle de Atemajac

One of the program’s central objectives is to broaden access to financing, including students from both public and private universities, a sector that is often left out of traditional support.

The intention is to “democratize” these support programs and adapt them to the different realities of young people, especially in a context where the costo f education can be an obstacle to continue a career.

In addition to working with universities, the program is already outlining a second phase focused on adding financial partners, both national and international.

For now, the focus is on consolidating this first set of alliances, strengthening its operation and, subsequently, scaling the model to a national level.

This process involves banks such as:

  • BanBajio, Santander and BBVA

This project is intended to become a real tool to prevent more young people from dropping out of school as part of the objectives of the People’s Government.
