The average rainfall in April has been 20.1 millimeters or liters per square meter, while the accumulated rainfall for the entire year 2026 to date has been 38.5 millimeters, compared to 12.8 millimeters in April of last year.

As of March 31, of the 46 municipalities that make up Guanajuato, 6 (Guanajuato, Irapuato, Leon, Purisima del Rincon, San Felipe, Silao) were classified as Abnormally Dry, while the remaining 40 remained Without Drought.

The municipalities that are classified as Abnormally Dry does not mean that the entire municipality is experiencing drought. However, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) uses the term “abnormally dry” to determine drought status. If a municipality is affected by this degree of abnormal dryness in any percentage of its surface area, the entire municipality is declared as abnormally dry. This does not mean that these six municipalities are completely affected; however, they do have some degree of impact.
