The Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, held a work reunión with the Delegation of the Congressional House of Representatives of the United States of America, with the objective of reaffirming the bilateral relationship between both governments and strengthening cooperation in economic, commercial, migration and security matters.

During the reunion, the State Governor welcomed the American Delegation and noted the importance of maintaining a permanent and constructive dialogue between both regions.

The Governor stressed that, given the current global context, international cooperation is essential to deliver results for the citizens.

“In complex times like those we are living through today, good politics must be present in each of our actions; in dialogue and collaboration we can find many answers,” said Libia.

In economic matters, the Governor noted that Guanajuato is consolidating itself as one of the most dynamic economies in the country and a strategic ally of North America as part of the Treaty of Mexico, the United States and Canada (USMCA).

“Guanajuato is the fifth largest economy in Mexico, with more than 32 billion dollars in foreign investment and more than 700 world-class companies operating in the State,” noted Libia.

In the economic sphere, the State Governor added, Guanajuato’s international relations are based on a solid network of investment allies:

  • Germany with 12.3%
  • National capital with 11.7%
  • In addition to investments by countries such as Italy, France, China, Canada and the United Kingdom

In particular, the relationship with the United States is strategically consolidated, as it is the second largest investing partner and the first in trade matters, with more than 5.4 billion dollars invested in 96 projects by US companies in the State, within the structure of the USMCA.

Between January and September 2025 alone, Guanajuato imported $10.865 billion in industrial supplies and various products from the United States, while exporting $24.891 billion to that country; currently, 1,427 companies based in the State maintain trade with the United States and 81% of Guanajuato’s exports are destined for that market.

During the reunion, migration issues and support for the binational community were also discussed, acknowledging the close relationship of Guanajuato and the United States. The Governor highlighted the presence of thousands of U.S. citizens in the State and millions of Guanajuatenses residing in the United States, which strengthens social, cultural, and economic ties.

In the area of security, the State Governor reiterated her willingness to maintain permanent coordination with US law enforcement agencies, federal authorities, and local governments to strengthen peace and trust.

“Security is a priority for both nations; therefore, institutional cooperation and the exchange of information are fundamental to continue delivering results,” said Libia Dennise.

The Governor noted that Guanajuato is promoting a strategy based on Intelligence, Regional Coordination and International Collaboration to combat crime and guarantee conditions of certainty for citizens and investments.

“Here you will always find an allied government, a government that will work to strengthen the ties that allow us to guarantee peace and development for our people,” said Libia.
