In the Superior Draw No. 2870 from Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, the National Lottery held its first draw in the territory of 2026, to celebrate the Centenary of the Birth of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Mexican singer-songwriter who in his musical career was inspired by the feelings of an entire country.

The Director General of the National Lottery, Olivia Salomon, and Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo; and the Mayor of Dolores Hidalgo, Adrian Hernandez Alejandri, led this draw before hundreds of Guanajuatenses who gathered in the main square to remember the memory and musical legacy of a voice that, with its poetry, emotionally transmitted Mexican identity.

The Governor of the People said that “today we come to honor the Centenary of the Birth of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, with the Superior Draw No. 2870 of the National Lottery of Mexico,” said Libia.

The Governor noted that, one hundred years after his birth, Jose Alfredo Jimenez remains more present than ever. “This is not just a figure of speech: it is a reality felt at every family gathering where someone requests one of his songs; at every celebration where his music gives voice to nostalgia, joy, love, and heartbreak; on every stage in the world where “El Rey,” “Si Nos Dejan,” or “Paloma Querida” continue to awaken a collective emotion that transcends languages and cultures,” said Libia.

She pointed out that Jose Alfredo didn’t just compose songs: he wrote, with the ink of his life, the sentimental history of an entire country. “His verses are an emotional heritage of Mexico and the world; at the same time, they are the living essence of Guanajuato made into music.”

The general director of the National Lottery emphasized that Jose Alfredo sang about what we are when we love, when we lose, and when we remain standing; because his voice became many voices and his song passed from generation to generation, “because he didn’t leave, because he won’t leave, and because he continues to be the king of Mexican popular music.”

Mayor of Dolores Hidalgo, Adrian Hernandez Alejandri, acknowledged the work of the National Lottery for keeping the tradition of the draws alive, as well as for contributing to the Cradle of Mexican Independence having a national projection, strengthening itself as an important tourist destination.
