With a civic ceremony held at the Glorieta Santa Fe, an emblematic space in the Capital of Guanajuato, the People’s Government commemorated the 202nd anniversary of the constitution of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State, as well as the State Flag Day, a symbol of identity, strength and pride for the people of Guanajuato.

During her message, the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, noted that this commemoration acquires a special meaning, as it is being held for the first time in history under the government of a woman, which represents not only a historical event, but the reflection of a Guanajuato that is advancing, transforming and paving the way for new generations.

“Today we celebrate 202 years of history, pride, freedom, and transcendence. Guanajuato is not just a State, it is the soul of our country. Mexico was born here, the spark of independence was ignited here, and federalism was consolidated here,” said the Governor.

Libia recalled that it was on December 20, 1823, when Guanajuato adhered to the Constitutional Act of the Mexican Nation, becoming the first State to enlist to be part of the Federation, a fact that reaffirmed its republican vocation and its leading role in the construction of the country.

The Governor emphasized that for more than two centuries, Guanajuato has been a protagonist in the most relevant moments of national history: from the War of Independence, the defense of the Republic, to the consolidation of democracy, thanks to the collective effort of women and men who have built solid institutions and a strong identity.

In this context, tribute was paid to illustrious figures who shaped the course of the State and the Country.

Also highlighted was the significance of the State Flag, whose coat of arms represents values such as faith, strength and the identity of a land that does not give up and looks to the future with hope.

The Governor reaffirmed that the People’s Government has people as its central focus, placing Guanajuatense families at the center of decisions, with the commitment that no one is left behind and to continue building a State with opportunities, well-being and development for everyone.

“Guanajuato has always risen to the challenge of meeting Mexico’s needs. Today more than ever, let us remain proud of our history and committed to the future of this inspiring land,” he concluded.
