The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the commemoration of World Food Day 2025, in an event organized by the State System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF), where the talent, creativity and commitment of the participants of the contests “Preparation of Healthy Dishes” and “Sowing knowledge, cultivating my future” were recognized.

“In this healthy living program, what we want is for our girls, our boys, and also us, the parents, to have healthier lives, for what they learn in school to be practiced at home and vice versa, for it to become a lifestyle for everyone,” said the State Governor during the awards ceremony.

Guanajuato is experiencing an arduous awareness campaign, supported by the Health Super League, to educate children and adolescents in the classroom about healthy eating.

The commemoration was held under the international motto “Hand in hand for better food and a better future,” promoted by FAO, which invites countries and communities around the world to build more just, resilient, and inclusive food systems.

The Healthy Dish Making Contest, organized by the State DIF, seeks to revive traditional Guanajuatense cuisine, foster culinary creativity, and promote the use of local, affordable, and nutritious ingredients.

In its 2025 edition, 313 dishes from the State’s 46 municipalities participated, prepared by girls, boys, young adults, seniors, students, health professionals, and the general public.

The winners were awarded prizes ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 pesos in recognition of their recipes’ originality, nutritional value, presentation, and cultural relevance. The finalist dishes will be included in the 2025 State Healthy Dishes Cookbook, published by the State DIF.

The winners of the “Sowing Knowledge, Cultivating My Future” contest were also recognized. This initiative was created to promote family, school, and community gardens that foster environmental education, self-sufficiency, and food security.

This contest evaluates creativity, water conservation, use of recycled materials, and community participation, awarding prizes ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 pesos for the best practices.
