The Secretary of Security and Peace urged citizens to avoid using fireworks due to the risk of injuries and life-threatening fires
Guanajuato/Gto News
During the national celebrations, the Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection, urged the population to protect their lives and those of their loved ones, in order to avoid risks and accidents through preventive measures.

The agency emphasized that, during these holidays, safety and fun must go hand in hand so that families can experience the Mexican holidays in peace and joy. They emphasized that all fireworks are dangerous and possess a powerful force that puts people’s health and lives at risk.

The manufacture, transportation, storage, and sale of fireworks are regulated by safety standards and under the supervision and authorization of the competent authorities. Therefore, these materials should only be handled under controlled conditions that guarantee public safety.
Error, negligence, misuse, or improper storage of these materials can cause death or serious health problems, such as eye or respiratory irritation, poisoning, hearing damage with temporary or permanent deafness, blindness, burns, permanent after-effects, or loss of limbs.

The shock wave from an explosion, warn Authorities, is so powerful that it can cause severe property damage and turn objects into projectiles capable of causing serious injury or loss of life, as well as starting fires in buildings or vacant lots.
Recommendations include not buying or selling explosive devices, not carrying them in pockets due to the risk of explosion, and not picking up undetonated devices from the floor.

Children and adolescents are also urged to avoid purchasing or handling fireworks and to keep them away from places where these devices are manufactured, stored, or handled.
During the festivities, it is important not to stay within 15 meters of any fireworks displays. It is also recommended that pets be kept in a secluded area to protect them from excessive noise from fireworks.

In addition, they recommended locating evacuation routes and establishing meeting points with family members if attending public events. Children were urged to wear a name tag with their name and phone number, to not let go of their hands at any time, and to prevent pregnant women, the elderly, or people with disabilities from being in crowded areas. Likewise, if attending a castle burning, they are asked to respect the cordons and always follow the instructions of Civil Protection personnel.
Authorities reminded everyone that during these holidays it is important to avoid excessive alcohol consumption, check the weather before going out, and carry a raincoat in case of rain, since in large gatherings, using umbrellas can cause accidental blows and injuries to those around them.

Extreme security in Dolores Hidalgo
The Ministry of Security and Peace also recommends that citizens planning to attend the national celebrations in the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo CIN arrive early, as security checkpoints will be in place to ensure a safe and family-friendly environment. Objects that pose a risk, such as knives, sticks, flagpoles, or glass bottles, will not be permitted. The Ministry invites residents to enjoy the celebration in an environment of order, discipline, and respect for the peace of mind of all.

Finally, Authorities reiterate the call for citizen co-responsibility in order to celebrate joyfully, respect the rules, and call 089 to report any risky situation.
