“The people of Ocampo are not alone. We remain vigilant and working as a team to support the affected families,” said Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo.

Following instructions from the Governor, the State Cabinet members traveled to the community of San Pedro de Ibarra, in the municipality of Ocampo, to assist the affected families.

As of 2:00 p.m. of Sunday, June 22, two people were reported as injured and 950 were affected in the disaster area, besides, 151 homes were surveyed out of a total of 244 homes reported in the affected area. Among the affected properties are a church and two education institutions.

State authorities are assessing the damage in order to determine the support that will be provided through the social programs offered by the People’s Government.

Secretary of Government Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona spoke with affected people to reaffirm the support of Governor Libia Dennise and the entire People’s Government. “The Governor strongly encouraged us to come and see you to find out what you need. You are not alone,” he said.

Also attending the San Pedro de Ibarra community were Rosario Corona Amador, Secretary of the New Beginning; Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, Secretary of Public Works; Gabriel Cortes Alcala, Secretary of Health; Antonio Guereca Perez, Head of the State Civil Protection Coordination; and Alejandra Rivera Cortes, Head of the Governor’s Private Secretary.

The Governor recognized the work being done by members of the General Police Commissioner of the State Public Security Forces (FSPE), who are supporting the affected population with cleanup and surveillance efforts.

“I thank Governor Libia Dennise for her constant support, and I take this opportunity to tell our people that we will work hard for everyone,” said Ocampo Mayor Erick Montemayor Lara.

Other institutions that participated in this tour and in the efforts to assist those affected include members of the Ocampo and San Felipe City Councils; members of the National Guard; the Ocampo Municipal Fire Department; and Municipal Public Security.
