To prevent and reduce crimes and administrative offenses, as well as responding to accidents and emergencies during this holiday season, the San Cristobal 2025 Operation was launched.
This event, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, was attended by corporations, institutions, and agencies that will provide protection, assistance, and care during Holy Week and Easter Week.
The Governor recognized the work of those who lend their talent and service while Guanajuato families and visitors enjoy their vacations.
“Today, in our beloved State of Guanajuato, we are launching one of the most important operations we have deployed in the State: Operation San Cristobal. I want to express my deep appreciation to the entire emergency services team and public safety institutions, both State, Federal, and Municipal, because we know that a great deal of work is being done,” said Libia.
During the holiday period, more than 24,000 people from corporations of all the three levels of government will be deployed.
In 2025, the operation involves personnel from:
- Secretary of Security and Peace, State Civil Protection, SUEG (Guanajuato State Emergency Service), and the Secretaries of Government, Health, Education, Tourism, Environment, and Economy, among other
Also participating are:
- State Attorney General’s Office, the State DIF System, SEDENA, the National Guard, the FGR, CONAGUA, CONAFOR, SEMARNAT, CFE, and the National Migration Institute
The municipalities participate with:
- Security Corps, traffic police, fire departments, Red Cross, volunteer groups, Green Angels, and civil associations
During this operation, surveillance is being conducted on:
- Roads, dams, spas, and other water systems, protected natural areas, camping areas, archaeological sites, municipal centers, churches, and mass religious events
Campaigns are also being carried out to prevent accidents, crimes, and emergencies. Therefore, the Governor called on citizens to cooperate by abiding to the authorities’ recommendations.
“We know that we’re going to build the best team with the citizens, that all of us are going to ensure that these important dates are lived in peace and tranquility,” said Libia Dennise.

“From today, we declare ourselves ready in this Government of the People, to respond to the call of whoever needs it, with the participation of society and the government. I am certain that we will have a good final report that it will be for the good of Guanajuato,” said the Governor.
The Operation San Cristobal began in 1967 with a small Red Cross camp on the Leon-Lagos highway. Since then, it has evolved into one of the largest security strategies, and has been carried out continuously since 2002.
