The Government of Guanajuato endorses its commitment to respect the autonomy of the Maximum House of Education of Guanajuato

“The Government of Guanajuato reiterates its commitment to respect the autonomy of our Maximum House of Education, in order to contribute to the strengthening of one of the most important education institutions in Guanajuato and Mexico”, said the Secretary of Government, Jesus Oviedo Herrera.

The Official participated on behalf of the Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo in the Solemn Session of the General University Council for the Commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Autonomy of the University of Guanajuato.

“In this six-year term we have committed ourselves to higher education, in particular to our University of Guanajuato, an institution that stands out for its humanist vocation of free thought”, said Oviedo.

“The University of Guanajuato is a great source of pride for all Guanajuato residents. Our Maximum House of Education is an institution that trains people with a firm social co-responsibility. It is also a promoter of artistic and cultural activities, important elements to promote values ​​in present and future generations,” said the Official.

The Secretary of Government pointed out that talking about the university is highlighting a legacy of great responsibility and commitment to promote and raise the quality of education in Guanajuato.

“The history of the university autonomy of the UG highlights the maturity reached by the hive so that through a University Council the internal life of the substantive functions of this institution can be analyzed, discussed and developed”, said Oviedo.

“Having this autonomy opens the permanent door to dialogue in collegiate bodies, the participation of the student and teaching community, to consolidate the University of Guanajuato as one of the most important in Mexico and in the world”, said the Secretary.

Oviedo Herrera recognized the entire community of the University of Guanajuato, since, thanks to the autonomy forged, “it has been a trainer of good women and men who have added their knowledge and work to the development of Guanajuato”.

“University autonomy is the responsible exercise of freedom, which is reflected every day in this House of Knowledge, an institution that has been key in the social, economic, political and cultural development of Guanajuato”, said Oviedo.
