The 9th Tamal Fair in Cortazar was held successfully, delighting more than 24 thousand attendees from the State of Guanajuato and surrounding destinations.
In Guanajuato, traditional cuisine is valued, a manifestation of intangible cultural heritage, and it is shared with visitors who, in large part, travel to destinations to try typical dishes from a region.
Through joint work between the Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, through the Directorate of Tourist Products, and the municipalities, the gastronomic segment is promoted in events that give value to traditional cooks and local ingredients, as well as traditions. and customs of the destinations.
At the beginning of February, 20 traditional cooks from Cortazar, Jaral del Progreso, Apaseo el Alto, Acambaro, Celaya and Salvatierra, delighted hundreds of families with the diversity of flavors of tamales, becoming the best exponents of the tamal of the Laja Bajio region.
This fair was enriched with the participation of more than 50 artisans from the State of Guanajuato and the guest municipality: Temascalcingo, State of Mexico, the participants exhibited and sold high-temperature ceramics, leather, textiles, sweets, jewelry, salt tamal with mole, cheeses, sauces, and artisanal wine.
There were artistic talents such as Yey Cuevas Saxophonist, Culture Artist, Nefi La Voz, Rodrigo Morales, Norteamente Cruzado, Chiras Pelas Rock Group and Mariachi Cortazar.
SECTUR Officials announced that they will continue to work together with the municipalities to disseminate and promote local recipes and those from the different regions of the State of Guanajuato, through its traditional cooks, in order to attract visitors and tourists to municipalities.
