Guanajuatense students are awarded for their academic excellence, leadership and sporting achievements

Yessenia Morales Valdes of the Penjamo Campus, was the winner of the Bernardo Quintana Arrioja Prize in the LEADERSHIP Category, Jose Carmen Guzman Acosta of the Cortazar Campus, won the ICA Medal, their distinctions were given by the National Director of CONALEP, Dr. Manuel Espino and representatives of the IAP Youth Support Foundation handed the distinctions, in Metepec, Estado de Mexico.
Yessenia is an academically outstanding student, in addition to actively participating in scouting and leadership programs, she has participated in UN programs for the promotion of Human Rights, she was one of the 13 selected for the National Geographic Storytelling Lab Program, which allowed her to produce her own short documentary film and develop skills in photography and cinematography.
The jury decided to award her the Prize for her contributions to menstrual management issues with her own project “Changing the Rules,” as well as for her participation in other campaigns with girls and young women on taboo topics for many contexts.
Another of her points was the comprehensiveness that she showed in her personal and professional career, her contribution to the training of new leadership and her involvement in aspects of science, environment and technology.
Jose Carmen, in addition to being an outstanding student in academic matters, has an outstanding sports career in amateur boxing, he has won important triumphs as champion and runner-up in various regional, state and national tournaments, he was also selected for the youth world championship by the Olympic committee, at his young age he has a record of more than 63 fights in that discipline, which makes him a promising boxer.
The Bernardo Quintana Arrioja Prize is a recognition of the most outstanding high school students belonging to the 3 most relevant public education institutions in Mexico: UNAM, IPN and CONALEP; who through their talent, perseverance and impact are generating relevant changes in Academic Excellence, Leadership, Patriotism, Service and Value.
The ICA Medal is awarded to the best student of the CONALEP System in each State of Mexico.
The recognition is an initiative of the IAP Youth Support Foundation organization, in 1989 it was granted for the first time at the National Polytechnic Institute and in 1991 it began to be granted at UNAM and CONALEP.
