Celebrating spring, for the second consecutive year, the five archaeological zones of Guanajuato will be open to the public this Monday, March 20, in addition to El Coporo located in Ocampo and in Arroyo Seco in Victoria there will be special activities.
General access to visit the five archaeological zones is from 10 am. The limit time for access to Canada de la Virgen, Arroyo Seco and El Coporo will be until 4 pm; while in Peralta and Plazuelas it will be at 5pm.
El Coporo at Ocampo, Guanajuato
The Coporo will receive spring with the second edition of the “Equinoccio Chichimeca”, an event to be held this Saturday the 18th, which will feature a wide variety of activities such as a gastronomic and craft fair, the presentation of the Chichimecas Jonaz dance group and a ceremony of purification with the Crow Deer Tribe. There will be other activities with reservation and additional cost that include temazcal, horseback riding and hiking.
In the gastronomic fair, 15 traditional cooks will participate, offering dishes such as snake broth, stuffed corn triangles, enchiladas, and crazy chips. There will also be products from the municipality such as Ocampo artisan bread.
Arroyo Seco at Victoria, Guanajuato
In the Northeast of Guanajuato, in Victoria, is the archaeological zone of Arroyo Seco, the second with cave paintings open to the public, where the event “Nabi. The sun between the stones” that will have three workshops:
- Stone painting
- Clay modeling
- Petroglyphs
The activities will be held from 9 am to 3 pm; in addition to a photographic exhibition, and a craft and gastronomic sample.
Peralta is a site that has ceremonial civic centers from 330 and 750 AD.
Plazuelas stands out for being one of the most complex cities, it has a ball game court and a set of squares and pyramidal bases.
Canada de la Virgen has several architectural complexes in which the House of the Thirteen Heavens stands out, a pyramidal base 15 meters high.
