Guanajuato is a destination that continues to evolve through tourism segments, said Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, during the twenty-first ordinary session of the Tourist Advisory Council of the State of Guanajuato (COTUEG), held in Parque Guanajuato Bicentenario (PGB).
In the event 13 representatives of the tourism sector of Guanajuato met with the SECTUR team, and representatives of the Ministry of the Environment and Territorial Planning, the Ministry of Sustainable Economic Development, IDEA, the State Institute of Culture, as well as the State Congress of Guanajuato, in order to contribute to the tourism promotion strategy of Guanajuato.
Alvarez Brunel said that since last year in Guanajuato, they have worked on segmentation in destinations, in order to develop products and programs adapted to specific markets.
“At SECTUR we understood that destinations are made up of segments and that we had to be very precise because tourism competition is really big. Today, after the Covid 19 pandemic, the purpose of the trip depends on the motivation of the tourist,” said the Secretary of Tourism.
The 9 segments that have been identified in the destinations in Guanajuato are:
- Romance, MICE, nature, oenology, distillates, wellness, culture, gastronomy and sports
“We are visiting the 46 municipalities and we met with mayors and tourism service providers to detect more potential segments and include them in this strategy”, said Alvarez Brunel.
