The State of Guanajuato has been recognized in multiple events for its exquisite gastronomy and for providing culinary experiences that remain in the memory, and this year has not been the exception.
In the 9th Edition of the “Guia Mexico Gastronomico Culinaria Mexicana” awards were given to 9 Guanajuato restaurants.
In this project of the gastronomic publisher Culinaria Mexicana held this 2023 at the Princess Mundo Imperial hotel, on the Riviera Diamante Acapulco, 250 best restaurants from all over Mexico were recognized, the book will be published by Larousse Cocina and presented by Audi.
“Thanks to the careful work of the chefs in the kitchen, Guanajuato has stood out for its ingredients, its preparations and presentations, and for the warm welcome they offer to diners”, said Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato.
“The gastronomy of Guanajuato has made our visitors return to the destinations to live these culinary experiences; that is, our food is the main reason for visiting Guanajuato”, said Alvarez Brunel.
The awarded restaurants are:
- Bastardo, Bovine, Marsala, Rosewood 1826 and Trazo 1810, in San Miguel de Allende
- La Cocinoteca and Sato, in Leon
- Bixa Cocina, in Irapuato
- Casa Mercedes, in Guanajuato City
The award-winning restaurants were selected by a Council of Voters, made up of more than 60 gastronomic journalists, content creators, sommeliers and lovers of the national gastronomic treasure.
With enthusiasm and curiosity, the voters undertook the task, for a year, of touring the entire Mexican Republic in search of new culinary experiences.
The purpose of the Guide is to exalt and show the diversity of Mexican gastronomy and to maintain a balance between the proposals of all the states —less than ¼ of the 2023 edition is in Mexico City—.
