With the aim of promoting global leadership skills in the English language and contributing to the training of leaders, 20 young people from Guanajuato were appointed by JuventudEsGTO as they won the “Global Leadership with Royal Roads” 2023”.
“For us they are a source of pride, but not only that, they represent hope, progress, future, they represent the greatness of Guanajuato, of this state that has shown how to do things well, of making quality public policy for youth,” said Antonio Navarro, general director of JuventudEsGTO.
The twenty university students who won the call will live an international experience for 10 days at Royal Roads University, in Victoria, Canada, for the “English Through Global Leadership” program.
During their stay, the young people will learn about leadership styles and their application in global contexts. Likewise, they will develop the importance of intercultural, ethical, critical thinking, decision-making and creative thinking skills.
In 2022, JuventudEsGTO signed the first agreement with the university, the result of a work tour by Antonio Navarro through the country of the maple leaf, seeking more and better development opportunities for the young people of Guanajuato.
“I am proud that the Government of Guanajuato, through JuventudEsGTO, has selected Canada as a strategic partner for international education,” said Robert Landry, Canada’s vice consul in Guadalajara.
Landry said that, from 2016 to date, more than 4,000 young people from Guanajuato have been awarded a scholarship or educational loan to attend a short-term mobility program in Canada.
