Guanajuato consolidates its leadership as a world-class wine and gastronomy destination with the Grape Harvest Festivals, which will take place in six municipalities of Guanajuato in August and October 2025.
“Come to Guanajuato to experience wine. We welcome you with open arms,” said Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, leading the press conference to present the activities that will take place during the 2025 Guanajuato Wine Harvest Festival.
“We are ready to welcome people who want to enjoy these activities that make Guanajuato one of the most important tourist destinations nationally and internationally,” said the Governor.
For this year’s 2025 Grape Harvest Festival, more than 12,000 attendees are expected, and an economic impact of 11.6 million pesos is projected.
The head of the Guanajuato Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, emphasized that this program consolidates one of the most emblematic tourism products of the Valle de la Independencia and positions it at the heart of the national and international trend in wine and gastronomy tourism.
Robles said that the People’s Government, through SECTURI, is promoting a solid tourism development strategy based on the integration of wine and gastronomy as fundamental pillars of our living heritage.
In coordination with Uva y Vino de Guanajuato AC, wineries, vineyards, and service providers, the grape harvests are consolidated as a meeting place for Guanajuato’s identity, the local economy, and tourism innovation.
Robles Leon emphasized that, in recognition of the development of the wine sector in Guanajuato, which is currently the fourth largest producer of wine and fifth largest producer of wine grapes in Mexico, the Mexican Sommelier Association announced that Guanajuato will host International Sommelier Day in 2026.
Besides work is underway to ensure that Guanajuato hosts the Spirits Selection by CMB event in 2027, an international spirits competition that will once again put Guanajuato’s name on the international stage, said Robles.
Lupita Robles noted that the quality of Guanajuato wines has been internationally recognized and that in 2024 alone, Guanajuato won 24 medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, ranking it the second most awarded State in Mexico.
The Grape Harvest Festivals are an expression of our cultural richness. They bring together the hospitality of our people, culinary creativity, passion for winemaking, and commitment to sustainable community development, said Robles.
The 2025 grape harvest calendar boosts the diversification of tourism products, promotes local consumption, strengthens hotel occupancy, and showcases the talent of chefs, sommeliers, traditional cooks, winemakers, and entrepreneurs that bring the Wine Route to life.
The Governor noted that, with these actions, Guanajuato reaffirms its vocation as a land of wines and flavors, as a state with identity and a vision for the future. A destination that proudly tastes of Mexico and offers itself to the world.
