On its 16th anniversary, the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato -UVEG- has strengthened ties with the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez -UACJ- through a Signing of a Collaboration Agreement that will lay the foundations for the mutual enrichment of both institutions, and their academic and student communities.
“We want to celebrate these agreements with you who are an example of the UNESCO roadmap and that we are on the right path, the interest in signing this agreement and exploring new worlds, you through our platform and that you also have that possibility of being in all parts of the world and that we, through your knowledge and what you have generated over so many years, so much expertise in different branches of science, humanities and all the majors that you have, also allow us to achieve our mutual objective which is teaching and personal growth”, said Ricardo Narvaez Martinez, Rector of the UVEG.
The collaboration agreement covers a wide range of areas of cooperation, with the aim of promoting and stimulating key activities, including:
- Promoting and stimulating activities related to the training and updating of teachers at both institutions
- Promote technological and scientific dissemination and research
- Promote cultural and academic enrichment
- All through coordinated work and the exchange of experiences between both institutions
A highlight of this collaboration is the inter-institutional development of the Master of Data Science program, which will address the growing demands in the field of analytics and data science. This program will provide students with the essential skills to meet the challenges of today’s digital world.
Juan Ignacio Camargo Nassar, Rector of the UACJ, said that “there are people with different needs, with the need for flexibility, for another type of education, other environments. The state of Guanajuato had that vision, long before the pandemic. With this experience that the UVEG has, with the experience that the UACJ has, we are going to form a good alliance to be able to contribute to your educational programs and so that we can take advantage of this infrastructure and experience that you have in terms of programs, not only at the undergraduate level; we also have the possibility of other types of projects that we can develop at the master’s or doctoral level. It is a great opportunity.”
UVEG has had a significant growth in the state of Chihuahua, as it has a historical enrollment of 2,030 students, of which only 882 have been from Ciudad Juarez. In addition, the Institution has reached at least 41 municipalities of the 67 that make up the State, covering 61% of its territory and contributing 157 graduates from the Bachelor’s, General Baccalaureate and Master’s programs.
Currently, UVEG has:
- 572 students from 27 municipalities in the State of Chihuahua
- They mainly study in the Bachelor’s programs (488 students in 26 municipalities)
- General Baccalaureate (61 students in 10 municipalities)
- Master’s degrees (21 students in 8 municipalities)
- Doctorate (2 students, 1 in Juarez and another in Chihuahua)
Due to the above mentioned as well as for its innovative techno-pedagogical model (recognized internationally), UVEG has positioned itself as a key player in education training in the northwest region of the country, giving way to strategic alliances like the one with the UACJ.
