“Much of what we have today, of what we have achieved in Guanajuato, we owe it to the quality teaching that is offered at this University, pride of all Guanajuato residents”, said Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo during the protest of Claudia Susana Gomez Lopez as General Rector of the University of Guanajuato.

“Today, with the renewal of the general rectory, I urge this great and diverse university community to work in unity. I invite you to continue contributing talent, intelligence and innovation, but above all a lot of passion, so that Guanajuato continues to shine with its own light at a national and international level,” said Rodríguez Vallejo.
Claudia Susana Gomez Lopez is the first woman appointed as Rector General in the history of the highest house of Studies in Guanajuato.
As part of her development project, for the UG Claudia Susana has proposed:
- Promoting new and better spaces for dialogue and listening to the Community
- Expansion and diversification of financing sources
- Strengthen the capacity of the academic staff
- Improve the processes of creating, updating and modifying education programs
- Promoting the development of research with high social impact
- Strengthen the development of the various institutions in the University
- Efficient relations agenda with all sectors of society
- Improvement of physical and digital spaces for university development
Besides being the first woman appointed as General Rector in the history of the UG, she is the eighth person since the granting of University Autonomy in 1994 and the 83rd person in the history of the University of Guanajuato and its background.
Claudia Susana Gomez Lopez is a professor of the Department of Economics and Finance of the University of Guanajuato since 1997. Graduate in Economics (1994), Master in Economics and Management of Technological Change (1997) from the Autonomous Metropolitan University Unit Xochimilco.
She also holds a PhD in Economic Analysis and Quantitative Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain (2008). She is a member of the National System of Researchers, Level I, since 2010 and with PRODEP recognition since 2006.
