In a meeting with more than 30 representatives of the tourism and hotel sector of Guanajuato, the Secretaries of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona; of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez; and of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles Leon, heard from this group the concerns about insecurity and in particular about cases of extortion and protectionist fees in Guanajuato.
During the meeting held at the C5i, commitments were established to face the challenges and strengthen the perception of security, and a call was made to businessmen to collaborate in the implementation of solutions. Representatives of the tourism and hotel sector pointed out the lack of tools to react without generating panic.
Secretary of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona, stressed the importance of maintaining spaces for dialogue. “Our governor, Libia Dennise Garcia, has instructed us to speak frankly and with closeness. These meetings are essential to measure progress and ensure that agreements are met,” he said.
He gave as an example of what is required the work that has been done in the municipality of Salamanca in terms of coordination; he also proposed meeting with transporters to address their needs and act as a bridge between them and the federal authorities.
The Secretary of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, promised to improve the action protocols and offered the businessmen a direct channel of communication so that everyone can be heard and that there is direct feedback.
“My commitment, on behalf of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, is to use my experience and knowledge, and to get feedback from all of you, who are a fundamental pillar for changing many issues in the tourism sector, so that there is trust,” said Juan Mauro to the businessmen.
Lupita Robles León, head of the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity, asked entrepreneurs to collaborate to implement solutions. She considered it “fundamental that we work together so that each area fulfills its function and we can achieve concrete results.”
The secretaries, Lupita Robles Leon, Jorge Jimenez and Juan Mauro Gonzalez, agreed with the businessmen to meet with transporters to address their needs; to hold meetings in each of the 10 regions contemplated by the new security strategy; to produce, through the Undersecretary of Prevention of the Secretary of Security and Peace, a manual of action protocols, and to train in preventive measures.
The participants agreed to maintain a direct channel of communication between the Secretary of Security and Peace and the tourism sector for emergencies and train tourist police.
The reunion was attended by the presidents of the hoteliers of all the regions of Guanajuato; and service operators and tourist transporters.
