The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, held a meeting with Federal and State authorities in the XII Military Region based in Irapuato.

As a result of the work meeting agreements, two new special groups will be formed to combat crime in Guanajuato. One group will be led by the Secretary of Defense and the other by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, both in coordination with the State Government’s Ministry of Security and Peace.

“Today we agreed not only to continue working in a coordinated manner, as we have been doing, but we also agreed to the presence of two special working groups on security matters, with the goal of restoring peace in Guanajuato,” said Governor Libia Dennise.
“The group, led by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, will focus on the ministerialization of criminal cases given the federal origin of the crimes, so that the operations we deploy in Guanajuato result in more arrest warrants and more convictions against those who are causing violence in Guanajuato,” explained the Governor.

In addition, there will be another specialized, mixed group, led by the Ministry of Defense, which will coordinate special operations, particularly in priority municipalities, with the participation of the entire State Operational Intelligence Group.
“We’ve said it since the first day of this administration: there’s no such thing as a color scheme when it comes to working for our people; with coordination, teamwork, and results that belong to all Guanajuatenses,” said Libia Dennise.

General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, Secretary of National Defense, acknowledged the coordination work carried out in Guanajuato, which has resulted in a decrease in high-impact crimes.
“First, I want to acknowledge the work you’re doing. You’re clearly making a tremendous effort. As a result of your efforts, we’ve managed to reduce (intentional homicides) over the last six days. That’s a huge achievement for everyone,” said Trevilla.

“Guanajuato is so important that we’re going to be coming more often, aspects of intelligence, operational deployment, coordination, and cooperation will be reinforced,” said General Trevilla Trejo.
Omar Garcia Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, said that one of the objectives of creating these specialized groups in Guanajuato is to increase investigative efforts.

“The Secretary of Security has been increasingly increasing its operations in conjunction with the Secretary of National Defense and various institutions within the Security Cabinet, and that is precisely what we want in Guanajuato: we, as a Secretary, through the National Intelligence Center and the Undersecretary of Investigation, dedicate ourselves to the tasks of investigation, prosecution, and intelligence in coordination with the Secretary of Security and Peace and the Attorney General’s Office,” said Harfuch.

“These first few months have been very important, and we have made significant progress. This motivates us to continue moving forward. We are on the right path; we will continue working for the safety of our families,” said the Governor of Guanajuato.
Also present at this meeting were Jorge Jimenez Lona, Secretary of Government of Guanajuato; Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato; Gerardo Vazquez Alatriste, Attorney General of Guanajuato, and other security and military Authorities.
