Valle de Santiago/Gto News

In Valle de Santiago, entrepreneurship occurs in many forms: it can begin among furrows and harvests, behind a counter, in a kitchen, in a small workshop, or with the sale of a product that someone learned to make with their own hands.

In this municipality, where agricultural activity, commerce, services and a growing community of working people coexist, the Initial Entrepreneur Workshop brought together more than 150 people who decided to take a break from their daily activities to learn new tools and look at their projects from another perspective.

Just like Guadalupe Rosas Martinez, at 53 years old, she knows that to get ahead you have to work every day. For approximately seven years, along with her husband, Gabriel Zavala Figueroa, she has run a business selling tamales and atole in Valle de Santiago, an activity they carry out from Tuesday to Sunday and which provides for their family.

Her business began to take off when Guadalupe learned about the “We Believe in You” program through Facebook last year. The opportunity caught her attention, and she decided to discuss it with her husband.

“Let’s see if it’s possible or not.” She signed up, attended the Initial Entrepreneur Workshop, and a year later, she remembers that experience as an opportunity to broaden her vision.

The news that she had been selected to receive the 7,000 peso support came with excitement. With the funds, they acquired equipment and tools that allowed them to work faster and reduce physical effort during product preparation.

Today, while continuing to work alongside Gabriel at their tamale and atole stand, Guadalupe shares her experience with other entrepreneurs and encourages them not to let opportunities pass them by due to fear or mistrust.

The training session, led by Ivon Padilla Hernandez, General Director of Financiera y Apoyos Tu Puedes Guanajuato, highlighted that Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo’s vision is to bring training directly to the citizens and to learn firsthand about the needs of those who run small businesses, produce, sell, and offer services in their communities every day.

“Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo has asked us to be closer to the people and not wait for them to come to us, but rather go out and find more people interested in reaching their full potential,” said Padilla.

The Official explained that the Initial Workshop is part of the “We Believe in You” program, which in its 8th process reached Valle de Santiago and is an essential requirement to be able to request the support of seven thousand non-refundable pesos that is mainly aimed at women from 18 to 59 years old and men from 18 to 30 years old who seek to start a productive activity.

Ivon said that the goal is to bring the tools of the People’s Government closer to people who decide to work for themselves.

“Every business, no matter how small, also moves the economy of a community, because behind it there is a family, suppliers, customers and many hours of work,” said Ivon Padilla.

With the Entrepreneur’s Initial Workshop, the Financiera y Apoyos Tu Puedes Guanajuato continues to tour the municipalities of the State to bring initial capital, training, guidance and opportunities to those who have decided to build an alternative source of income based on their knowledge and abilities.
